Paramount’s star-studded anniversary photo
In honour of Paramount Pictures’s 100th anniversary, an insane number of movie stars and filmmakers—116, to be exact—gathered for the ultimate photo op. We’re talking Harrison Ford, Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise, Barbra Streisand, Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, John Travolta, Dustin Hoffman, Julianne Moore, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt, among many others. Wonder how many new handshake deals were struck in that room?

‘Savages Vs. Aliens’?
Taylor Kitsch battled aliens in two box-office disappointments this year, but maybe he thinks the third time will be the charm. While promoting Oliver Stone’s gritty new ‘Savages,’ the actor joked with reporters that during filming, ‘I kept pitching aliens to Oliver, but he wasn't buying it.’ All kidding aside, Taylor (who also noted that his ‘Savages’ love scenes with Blake Lively were ‘very awkward,’ seeing as how they’d just met) says he will be doing ‘no green screen for a while.’

Audiences aren’t getting ‘Dumber’
Now that Jim Carrey has dropped out, the sequel to ‘Dumb and Dumber’ isn’t happening. Bummer! After the comedian confirmed that he would not participate in the project, MTV News caught up with Jeff Daniels, the other star of the 1994 comedy classic, who flatly stated that he wouldn’t participate in the project: ‘No, nobody's doing it without Jim.’ Well, we’re disappointed the sequel is off…but relieved that producers won’t try to replace Carrey. Now that would have been really dumb.

Rob Zombie backs ‘Bullies’
Rocker turned filmmaker Rob Zombie is departing from the horror genre for his next movie—but there should still be plenty of violence and bloodshed. The ‘House of 1000 Corpses’ director will write, direct, and produce a movie about the 1970s Philadelphia Flyers hockey team known as the Broad Street Bullies for their aggressive style. So, we’re thinking there’ll probably be fewer corpses than in his usual cinematic offerings, but more missing teeth.

Weekly casting news roundup
Charlize Theron is set to produce and probably star in the comic ‘Murder Mystery,’ according to the Hollywood Reporter … Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts will star in a film version of the play ‘August: Osage County,’ to be produced by George Clooney. Clearly, with such terribly untalented people involved, the movie will be no good! … Brie Larson, Miles Teller, and Shailene Woodley are lined up to appear in a film adaptation of ‘The Spectacular Now,’ a novel set in high school, per Deadline … Rihanna will voice a character in the animated movie ‘Happy Smekday!,’ about aliens who rename Christmas, reports NextMovie … And smokin’-hot Amber Heard has been cast to play a fling for Liam Hemsworth in the upcoming thriller ‘Paranoia.’ Let's hope Miley Cyrus isn’t the jealous type!
